WireNuts Newsletter

Volume One / Issue One

W HATS NEW?
Welcome to the first eddition of WIRENUTS! This newsletter is for all of you out there who have allowed me to do what I really love.....designing and installing entertainment systems for your homes. It’s been 10 years since I struck out on my own and I simply could not have done it without all of you. The last two years have been a growing pain but I think I have my hands back on the wheel and my foot on the brake (at least a little!)The purpose of the newsletter is to keep all of you up-to-date on what’s new, what’s coming and generally what’s happening in the world of Home Entertainment. Why Wire Nuts? After all, that’s what we are. We just love wire! We pull it, push it, twist it, bend it, even cuss at it sometimes, but in the end it’s what keeps us connected. Maybe you’re a Wire Nut too! Being a Wire Nut means you have the most knowledgeable, committed and nutty access to the world of “how to connect it” anywhere. We’re here and if it uses wire, chances are we know more about it than anyone else. Call us, write us, or the next time you see us just shout out.....Hey, aren’t you a Wire Nut?!

D ID YOU KNOW?
We now have a place to hang our speaker wire! In March we put together a demonstration Show Home designed to show off the latest Home Theatre, lighting, a little automation and the best Audio/Video around! So far the feedback has been tremendous and we’re very excited to finally have a place that gives our customers a chance to experience a real home environment and show them just what we can do. You’ve got to see it! Give me a call if you’d like to come out....or just call to say hello!

The FCC has finally ruled on not one but 18 possible standards for HDTV. There will be a limited “roll-out” later this year and by 2006 all TV transmissions should be digital. Not to worry though, that new TV in your recent past or near future will work just great! Set-top converters will insure that it has a long and productive life. So jump in anytime! High Definition TV will be wonderful when it finally arrives....in the meantime, there’s a lot of entertainment to be had right now!

I keep getting the question....Do I Repair or Replace? The best way to determine whether to Repair or Replace is usually the 50% rule. If the cost to repair is under 50% of the worth of the item, generally it’s a good idea to fix it. If however, the repair reaches or exceeds the 50% value, you should probably replace it. Of course you’ll get the most accurate appraisal of an item’s worth from a Wire Nut who has a variety of resources from which to estimate the value (along with unlimited opinions as to why new is usually better). So when in doubt give us a call!

I thought this would be a good time to discuss VALUE in what we do....We have worked hard to bring you the best products and the best service at a competitive price, which is a hard balance to find and maintain. For me, value is much more than price....It is a commitment to service, responsiveness, experience and a genuine interest in building relationships and not just sales.

B ULLETIN BOARD
Current Rep I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of you what lines of equipment we represent as well as a little about our policies regarding service and support. First, I’ve been working hard just to keep up with the demand I’ve seen develop over the last two years. To some of you, I apologize that I haven’t been more accessible....fortunately, that is changing and you have my commitment that no matter how many hours a week it takes, I will improve my responsiveness to your needs.

As for our lines of equipment, we represent B&W Loudspeakers, Chiro/Kinergetics Research, Mitsubishi, Monster Cable, Niles Audio, Polk Audio, Sony, Esoteric Audio, Sunfire, and of course Yamaha. I’m so proud of these lines, and they say you are only as good as the company you keep and Jim Gray Designs keeps company with some of the best products in the industry.

Stay tuned for a new member of the family....it’s not definite yet, but it looks like Martin Logan Loudspeakers will be available at Jim Gray Designs sometime this summer. What a privilege to be considered for this line....one of the most respected speaker companies in the world. Yes, in the world!

As always, you can count on Wire Nuts to keep you updated and in 1998 we will see lots of incredible changes. For instance, DVD is now 1,000 titles plus and growing by the month, and probably the most exciting development for me is an affordable (699.00) Recordable CD Player. Not only do we keep company with the best, we have the latest information about the technology that will shape our lives.

S PECIAL EVENTS AND THANK YOUS
First, I would like to dedicate this premiere issue of Wire Nuts to my father-in-law, Everett Lee Godbold. He left us behind in March “97, that same week the Hale Bopp Comet made it’s closest appearance. I think he might have been lucky enough to have caught a ride to another place....He would have liked that idea and we all miss him.

Also, I’d like to give some thanks to Terry Clark for coming up with the great name Wire Nuts! Also to Terry Clark, congratulations on finding a “grown-up” job (I’m looking for one myself !) We miss you already! Thanks to Wayne Watters, Cliff Hinkle and Phil Blank for their encouragement and support and to Carl Parker, Mark Odom and Mark Ice for helping me find my center. Finally to Debra, who has been the calm in the storm and who reminds me everyday that she knew that I knew that I could !

We hope to see our new Web Page completed by late Fall....so those of you who are on-line can “tune-in” and see whats going on between issues of Wire Nuts. We are excited by the possibility of this new addition and hope that you will look forward to it just as much as we are!
